Theater, Opera & Ballet in Varna
The Varna Opera is situated in the same building as Drama Theatre “Stoyan Bachvarov”. It is created in 1947. From 1999 it is merged with Varna philharmonic orchestra and forms Opera and Philharmonic society – Varna.
Located in the central part of the Sea Garden the Summer theater is a place for many national and international events. The present open-air theatre, flanked by the Alpineum and the children’s amusement park, is the venue of the Varna International Ballet Competition since its inception in 1964.
Theater “Bulgaran” is opened in 2009 and is the first private professional theater in the cultural map in the city Varna and Northeastern Bulgaria.
The State Puppet Theatre of Varna has been established in 1952. More than 260 performances have been implemented on its stage over past years, more than 20 500 performances have been played and watched by millions of spectators both in Bulgaria and abroad.
The Festival and Congress Centre in Varna is created in 1986 and is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the city. It is a multifunctional venue, built for festivals, cinema and theatre performances, concerts, shows, exhibitions, congresses, conferences, symposia.
The Drama Theater “Stoyan Bachvarov” is founded in 1921 as the Municipal Professional Theatre. The building is finished in 1932 and opened on 5th June. Later to the main scene another one is added in separate building called “Filiala”.
