Naval Academy “N. Vaptsarov ” is the oldest technical school in Bulgaria. It is one of the symbols of Varna and Bulgaria in the world maritime community thanks to its illustrous history and traditions in training sea specialists. At present, the Academy trains specialist for the Navy and for the merchant marine in all areas of maritime life.
The mission of Varna Medical University is to meet the needs of society for highly qualified medical and management personnel in the fields of health and social care in accordance with the international standards and national strategies for educational and public health development, to develop fundamental and applied scientific research, innovations and new technologies and improve the nation’s health.
The University of Economics – Varna is the first Bulgarian institution of higher education of commerce with 94 years of experience.
It provides globally recognized diplomas in the fields of Economics, Administration and Management, Tourism, Informatics and Computer Sciences. 20 accredited Bachelor’s degree programmes and 30 Master’s degree programmes. Three programmes taught in English and two in Russian. Projects under ERASMUS+, CEEPUS for training through educational exchange and agreements with 70 universities in Europe. Traineeship programmes in Bulgaria and abroad.
Technical University – Varna was established in 1962. It strives to provide engineers for shipbuilding, transport, machinery, electricity and communications technology needed for industrial complexes in chemistry, shipbuilding and ship repair, engine building, transport, electrical engineering, electronics and communications developing in northeastern Bulgaria.
The Planetarium in Varna is one of the most famous attractions in the city. Located just beside the entry of the Sea garden, it is visited by thousands of tourists.
In 1883 by the Varna Literary Society, thanks to the generous donation of prominent public men and patriots from Varna, the “Pencho Slaveykov” Public Library in the city was founded. The library has been a depository of the Bulgarian national literature since 1945.
The College of Tourism – Varna was established in 1963. In 1989 the College was incorporated within the structure of the University of Economics – Varna and since 1999 the college has been one of the university core branches.
Free University of Varna “Chernorizets Hrabar” was established in 1991. The University provides full-time and part-time education in all academic degrees – BA, MA and PhD.
The University is among the initiators and most active members of the Black Sea University Network. VFU’s lecturers and students take an ever more significant part in diverse international projects, such as Tempus, Erasmus, Leonardo, and other research and education dedicated programmes funded by the EU.
Varna University of Management is a private higher education business school. It is specialized in Business Administration, Hospitality Management and International Economics & Information Systems – it provides professional education and training to the students.
